A very well attended AGM was held in the Oliver Jones Hall in January. The chairman welcomed members both old and new and thanked very body for their help and support during the past twelve months.
It had been a successful 2008 with many fine team and individual performances, notably the 'B' team winning Division 4, Arwyn Roberts and John Warren finishing first and second respectively in the league averages and Dafyn Hughes and John Warren winning the 4–5–6 Oswestry League competition at Weston Rhyn.
Members had worked hard throughout the year to maintain the upkeep of the clubhouse and Ron Pierpoint had ensured that we had one of the very best playing surfaces in the league.
The club were proud to host two Oswestry League competitions last year. The club competitions were well attended on a Sunday, trophies and shields were presented to all winners at a presentation evening held at Christmas.
Officers for 2009 are: chairman, Simon Pugh; vice-chairman, Wyn Hughes; secretary, John Warren; treasurer, Craig Davies. Craig Davies accepted the position of treasurer due to Arthur Jones deciding to step down. Arthur was thanked for all his hard work in keeping the finances in order. 'A' team captain, Gary Davies; 'B' team captain, John warren; 'C' team captain, Charles 'Mink' Edwards. The committee were re-elected en bloc.
It was reported that the ten year lease on the bowling green should be completed very soon.
Subscriptions remain the same as last year, adults £10; Juniors £5. Anybody wishing to join will be made most welcome—please contact a committee member.
The green opens on April 4, with the league starting on Tuesday, 14 April.
