FULL POCKETS
Every man needs pockets large enough to carry all important things in life: wallet, keys, mints. By looking at my wife's purse, it seems she has a whole universe of resources, but at least men have the essentials! With just a quick reach into a pocket, I have access to cash, credit cards, and the exclusive priviledges that a set of keys offers. And children know that if they ask Mum or Dad to search their pocket or purse for a mint, a comb, a tissue or some money—whatever it is they think will meet their need at the moment—they will receive it! It's not unlike our privilege as God's children. At salvation, we are placed 'in Christ' and granted full access to all the valuable resources God offers us. Ephesians 1:3 states 'God… has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ 'Resources such as wisdom: 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path' (Psalm 119:105). Forgiveness and grace ; 'In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace' says Ephesians 1:7. New perspectives that bring hope and confidence even in the toughest of times. (Ephesians 1:18), material provision (Mathew 6:30–31), and peace (Ephesians 2:14) are also ours in Him. God lavishes His resources on us 'according to the riches of His grace' Let us all take the advantage of this, for children of the King (Jesus) have no reason to live like paupers. I know not by what methods rare The Lord provides for me; I only know that all my needs He meets so graciously. Adams Be encouraged: Yours in Christ, Rev'd R. Since 1990 the club has been based at the Cross Keys, Selattyn, but with our Rally's venue change last year along with the support that we have received in the Glyn Valley we felt it appropriate to change our meeting place to the Golden Pheasant.
The club caters for enthusiasts of all manner of vintage machinery and our members have a wide range of interests including Tractors, motor cycles, cars and Stationary engines. We now meet at the Golden Pheasant, LLwynmawr, on the second Tuesday of every month at 8.00pm . Anyone who has an interest in old machinery will be made welcome, so please come along and have a look! If any further information is needed please give me a ring on 01691 678274. Could I also take this opportunity to thank Phil and Hilda Rothera of the Cross Keys for their kind support (and tolerance of us!) over the last 16 years. Regards, Neale Pryce-Hughes.

Many thanks to Mrs Proudlove's grandson, Grant, for clearing the snow on the paths to our houses in Cae'r Ysgol.

Members of the Cymdeithas Glyntraian enjoyed their annual supper at the Golden Pheasant Hotel on February 15. The chairman, Mr Eifion Davies extended a warm welcome to new members and announced that final arrangements for this year's charity concert have been completed.
Côr Maelgwyn under their conductor, Trystan Lewis will give a performance at the Oliver Jones Memorial Hall, Dolywern, on Saturday, 27 October, with the proceeds going to Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham.
The residents of Cae'r Ysgol and Y Maes wish to say a 'big thank you' to Luke Northall for clearing the snow away from the paths to their homes. This voluntary work is much appreciated.
Mr Hugh Lloyd and family, Hafod y Garreg, Pandy, wish to express their sincere thanks for all expressions of sympathy they received following the death of Hugh's sister, Doris. Thanks also for the donations received towards Hope House Children's Hospice and the Shooting Star Appeal.
There is now a Resident Caretaker at the Ceiriog Memorial Institute, the new telephone number is 01691 718076.
A concert given by the James Lambert Singers, conducted by Mair Evans was held at the Ceiriog Memorial Institute on Friday, 16 February and was very well received. Her choir was introduced and thanked by Mr Idris Davies, vice-chairman of the entertainments committee. A raffle was held during the interval, and the treasurer, Mr Frank Jones thanked everyone for their support, as over £270 was raised for the Institute funds. Lady members of the committee served refreshments to the choir.
Mr Trevor Lloyd, Treflys, grows chrysanths and every summer leaves bunches by his gate for people to purchase. Last summer between sales and donations £147 was raised and this was sent to the Marie Curie Cancer Care Wales Christmas Appeal. Mr Lloyd wishes to thank everyone for their support.
The work on the new centre is almost complete, and following an open meeting held at the Institute, a core management committee has been formed. Carwyn Jones AM will perform the official Opening Ceremony on March 15.
Canolfan Ceiriog Community Centre The Centre will provide a well equipped venue and a wide-ranging programme of regular activities in which the community of all ages and abilities can be involved. The facilities include a large hall, set out for badminton but suitable for a variety of sports and events and two smaller rooms available one being equipped with facilities for computers. They are connected to a fully equipped kitchen with cooker and fridge. There are also two small interview rooms available for a one-to-one meeting. And the foyer with chairs and tables has a kitchenette with fridge and water. The toilet and changing facilities are designed for users of all ability and age and include hot showers and has direct access to the outside courts which are floodlit and designed for multiple use. We have been able, through various funding schemes to provide a large amount of sports equipment furnishings to cover most requests. The charges for the use of this facility we feel are reasonable but the management committee will negotiate with groups on request. However, these figures are subject to review as the centre develops and full outgoing costs are realised.

Now that the Community Centre is built we must keep the Carnival alive to ensure that the centre becomes financially viable and allows the centre to subsidise some of the groups using the facilities. Most of all, the Carnival brings together the whole community for a very enjoyable, affordable day out! We need your help! People are needed to man stalls, raffle prizes are always wanted, and we would like schools or groups to take part in the parade. If you are able to help, in whatever way, please call Jim on 718680. Jim Bibby, Chairperson for Fund Raising Group
Many people have been asking about the likelihood of the Post Offices in the Valley being closed. I can't always give customers a clear answer as the process is quite complicated. The review has been extended so that it could take the whole of 2007 to be completed and it may be extended again, as the Post Office and the Government are trying to be as flexible and as careful as they can (or so thy say!).
As far as our Post Office is concerned, we are fairly confident that we will not be affected. As the process is getting further extended the residents of the Valley can also help the process, as sales and growth or decline of sales during this calendar year will become a crucial factor in which Post Offices are chosen. Please try to use the Post Office more, for example by buying all your stamps at a local Post Office. Here are some actions which would help the Post Office: 1. Tax your car at Glyn Post Office 2. Buy your stamps at the Post Office 3. Pay household bills at the Post Office 4. use our banking services if you are with Halifax , Nationwide Building Society, Lloyds TSB, Barclays, Alliance and Leicester , Smile or the Co-op Bank and it's always worth checking if you can withdraw cash even with other accounts. 5. Use the Post Office for travel insurance, home insurance, car insurance and foreign currency. 6. Use the Post Office to top up your mobile phone. 7. Open a Post Office account like the Instant Saver at 5.5%AER with frequent withdrawals. Finally a big thank you to all our customers who have supported us during the last few years. We are very grateful to all of you. Happy Easter Pasg Hapus John Keen, Glyn Ceiriog PO
A Community Garden is being set up in the Ceiriog Valley . It is supported by Garden organic, Ryton (formerly H.D.R.A.) and is part of a larger project called 'Organic Food for All' (OFFA).
Growing fruit and vegetables organically in your local area is one of the most positive things that we can do to help the environment, reduce carbon emissions and lessen our personal ecological footprint, and hopefully have some fun at the same time. It seems as if there is at last a wave of interest in local sustainable issues, as the recent Ceiriog Valley Visioning Events have suggested, and this is just one of the many small ways in which we can contribute to the bigger picture. So, if you're interested in taking part or would just like more information please phone Judith on 01691 718127. Leaflets are available in Pontfadog and Glyn Ceiriog Post Offices. Tools, seeds and tea will be provided. Any unwanted garden tools would be much appreciated

A diary was found on the road between Dolywern and Pontfadog. Please contact The Webmaster if it is yours. It has a brief note inside the cover.
